At TaylorMade Therapy, our commitment to transparency, care, and professionalism is in line with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and Australian privacy legislation. This policy describes how our clients' private information is managed. We value privacy and are dedicated to following the Australian Privacy Principles outlined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Personal Data

A person's name, address, phone number, birthdate, email and personal address, are examples of personal information that can be used directly or indirectly to identify them. Sensitive information breaches are likely to expose persons to reprisals or discrimination. Examples of a person’s sensitive information include but are not limited to - political and religious views, gender identity and sexual orientation, medical and biological information, family court orders and criminal history etc.

Why we gather personal data

A client's disclosure of personal data to TaylorMade Therapy helps us to evaluate and assist you in addressing any personal issues you have highlighted during counselling. We keep personal data so that we can offer a service that is detailed and appropriate. Due to our duty of care and the nature of our practice, a client cannot remain unidentified or anonymous. A client may ask to use a pseudonym in sessions, but the name that appears on their ID will be how information is stored by TaylorMade Therapy.

How we collect personal data

We gather personal data in a number of ways, such as:

  • Referrals from your GP, another service or provider
  • Information shared verbally via phone or in person
  • Written correspondence from you via email, SMS, or mail
  • Online booking system via the website
  • Intake & Consent forms
  • Guardians of individuals under the age of 18

Our storage of personal data

We store personal data in a number of secure locations that are only accessible by authorised personnel in order to prevent abuse or loss. Information is stored in a variety of ways, including secured digital copies with 2FA security enabled, and hard copy formats (offline and on a secure server).

Following the completion of payment processing, we do not keep any credit card or financial information. We also make an effort to avoid keeping extraneous information, occasionally securely discarding it in accordance with our legal requirements.

In compliance with the Privacy Act (1988), we will quickly investigate any security breach, take appropriate corrective measures, and notify the impacted individual.

Disclosure of your personal data

Except in cases where disclosure is mandated by law, we will never give your personal information to third parties without your permission.

Accessing your personal data

You have the right to seek access to the personal data we have on file about you.

We work hard to guarantee that the personal data we gather is correct and current. According to the Privacy Act (1988), you have the right to request that any personal information we have on you be updated or corrected, and we shall comply with your request.

In accordance with the Privacy Act (1988), we handle all requests for access to personal data. If and when the Privacy Act (1988) gives us the right to deny access, we are free to do so.

Complaints

Please get in touch with us right away if you believe that your personal information has not been handled in accordance with the Privacy Act (1988). We will look into your concern and make every effort to address it with you personally as soon as possible.

Changes to this privacy policy
